With out a doubt the fastest way to lose weight is through a healthy diet and vigorous exercise every day. So you need to take in less calories than you burn each day. You don’t want to start missing meals thinking that will speed up your losing weight. That’s actually quite counterproductive. You will put your body into what is called starvation mode and you could actually gain weight. Not good. You could also do damage to yourself. This is like the story of the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady, and we all know who wins that race. A well balanced diet eaten daily along with a quality exercise program over the long haul is the best and fastest way to lose weight. The best thing is that you don’t have to worry about ever regaining the weight again.

Diet doesn’t mean a diet, a short term shift of normal eating habits. Your diet is how you eat every day not something you do just to lose weight. A well rounded diet has a variety of healthy nutritious foods from all of the food groups eaten moderately.   And with a well balanced diet it’s easy to adjust calories down when you need to lose a few pounds temporarily.

That’s a pretty big change isn’t it?   It might not be.   You may already eat most of the foods needed for a well balanced diet, just not in the right portions. Cutting down the amount you eat, for most overweight people, can take you from eating poorly to a beneficial change. If the meals you’re eating are high quality and packed with nutrition it’s all right to indulge in an occasional dessert. Just remember not to have to much.   The three bad white foods – white bread, white rice, and sugar – can easily be replaced in your diet.Start by eating healthy nutritious foods like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, preferably organic. This can replace the calorie dense but nutrient deficient processed prepackaged foods that are of little value.

The key to maintaining a healthy diet is planning.   When you fail to plan you miss meals, that leads to binge eating.   When you fail to plan you often find yourself at the mercy of a fast food restaurant or a friend whose cooking leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to healthy foods.   Plan meals in advance, including for occasions like parties and social gatherings.   It only takes a few questions to find out what’s on the menu and plan the days other meals accordingly to not break the bank for calories.   Part of the plan is understanding that sometimes the plan will fail. If you make a mistake don’t let it get you down. Just because you splurged and ate that piece of cheese cake doesn’t mean you’ve totally failed your diet. Always remember that this is something your going to be doing for the rest of your life not just a couple of days.

As for exercise do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise seven days a week. This should be your goal. And don’t get all bent out of shape if you miss a day or 2.   Add extra activity such as parking further from the store or office for a little walk, or taking stairs instead of the elevator.

A healthy diet eaten every day along with vigorus quality exercise is the best and quickest weight loss plan there is.
