Planning Your Workouts

Most people have talked about starting a workout routine, and never actually do it.  One of the most common things that is promised when a new year is starting is to get healthier than you have been  Unfortunately, statistics show that many of those New Year’s resolutions won’t last.  Choosing to get fit and trim requires more than a wish that you could make it happen.  In order to make a personal exercise plan that will stand the test of time you must be realistic and realize that results and change take time and persistence.

Come up with a plan that is reasonable for your lifestyle and the other commitments that you have. When we initially begin a new personal exercise plan, we are often ambitious in how many hours a day we can dedicate to it and we go out and buy a six pack ab exercises with every intention of using it regularly, and, in the beginning two hours a day may seem doable, and you might actually keep it up for a week or two. But the reality is that time frame is just not sustainable.  When you set your goals, keep them realistic and think far ahead.  Realize that your excitement over the new program will probably not last.

Make your plan a priority.  Putting together an exercise routine should be about something that will create a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life and not just to lose a few pounds for a short while.  There will inevitably be days where you don’t want to exercise, where the last thing on your mind is getting fit or active.  These are the most important days to work out.  Making certain that your personal exercise plan is a mandatory part of your day and not an option can help you see it as something that can’t be neglected.  One way to make this part easier is to find some support whether it be by working out with a friend, going to a gym and hiring a professional trainer, or using message boards such as the how to lose weight fast to talk to other people who have similar goals to you.

Write down your goals and progress.  Being accountable to yourself is a great way to stay on track with your personal exercise plan.  When you see your goals and your progress in black and white, it is cemented not only in your mind but also in a tangible way.  It is much easier to work out when you know that you are succeeding at reaching your goals.  Post it in a place that you see many times during the day.  Doing this keeps your goals in your thoughts more often.  Seeing that you are making progress will make it easier to continue with your regimen.  Seeing that you are accomplishing what you set out to as you move around your house is very enjoyable.

The end result of any fitness program is that you want to feel better.   There are many people who believe that in order to lose weight they must do something radical and they try to lose weight fast or by some other type of fad diet, and while they could be a good way to jumpstart a healthier lifestyle it is not a permanent solution.  When you focus too narrowly on goals like lose ten pounds, you see a personal exercise plan as a temporary thing.  Focusing on your total body health and wellness allows you to see fitness as a lifelong goal.
