You need to change your eating habits and start letting go of your emergency rations, or at least replace them with healthy alternatives. Getting Rid of Most of Your Emergency Rations If you&#8217;ve finally decided that it&#8217;s time for you and your family to start eating healthy, one of the first things you need to do is to start making some changes to your diet, including cleaning out your snack cabinet. Don&#8217;t just move the junk food to another area where you think they won&#8217;t be as tempting. Even though it&#8217;s a waste of money, you need to give your junk food emergency rations the old heave ho. But before you do, take a good look at everything first, because there may be a few things you can keep. The body is not just blood and tendons and sinew after all, it is made up of spirit and soul and your dedications as well. Arnold bodybuilding is the training program that is used to make sure that all of these concepts are used and worked on. In addition to using the Arnold bodybuilding to build a stronger and healthier body, it is important to incorporate healthy nutrition as well. Arnold Bodybuilding: Muscular Success The Arnold bodybuilding method follows the credo that Arnold had, saying that the muscles only had success if the body was pushed to its limit every time. For the upper body, including the arms, shoulders, abdominals and back muscles, he felt that 8-12 reps was enough. But, for the lower body, which has bigger, bulkier muscles and are meant for endurance, reps should be 12-16 reps. The lower body can handle the increased reps because the muscles are so much bigger. For the beginner to intermediate exerciser even in the Arnold bodybuilding programs, the advice is to do 12 total sets per body part, however the advanced exerciser might benefit from a higher rep count, around 20 for all muscle sets. Small muscle groups in the body might benefit from shorter reps, so the biceps and triceps could be worked with only 9 reps. This doesn&#8217;t mean that you will be eating like a child who has just graduated from soft food to the real stuff, but you need foods that will help you to build muscle and bulk up, without making you gain a lot of fat. After all, the whole idea behind working out with weights is to have big muscles, not big bellies or butts. You need to make sure that you are eating a healthy, well-balanced diet that is loaded with protein-rich foods. Why protein? Because it is a natural source of energy and is necessary for the growth of our muscles, not to mention their recovery following workouts. When you work out with weights, you stretch and rip the muscles, and protein will help them to stay healthy after working out and grow to the size you always wanted them to be. What Is Protein, and Do We Really Need It? There are three macronutrients that we all need to have in our diets if we want to be healthy. Actually, we need them if we want to survive, period. These macronutrients are carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Protein is made up of chains of amino acids, and there are 22 amino acids that make up protein &#8211; 14 non-essential (which the body is able to make on its own) and eight essential amino acids (that the body is not able to make, and must come from dietary sources). Normally, most people require a certain percentage of each macronutrient to make up a healthy diet. Many health organizations, including the American Heart Association, recommend that most people have diets that consist of 55% carbohydrates, 15% fats, and 30% proteins. But, if you are weight training to build muscle, you will need to have more big boy food &#8211; or protein &#8211; in order to accomplish your weight training goals. But diet sodas may be even worse, especially for those who suddenly switch from one to the other. The body gets used to the taste of the regular soda and expects the sugary kick. When that does not happen, it sends up protests to the brain, signaling cravings for more and more sugar, which may lead to a binge and more calories than we need. Diet sodas may also cause other problems as well. Most are loaded with sodium, which makes you thirstier than you were before and makes you drink more and more. In addition, a recent study showed that for every can of diet soda that you drink daily, your risk of being overweight increased by 41%. Fruit drinks, even pure fruit juice, have higher calorie counts than the actual fruit plus they lack the fiber that the fruit can give us. Other sauces are equally devastating to your otherwise healthier food choices at these fast food places and are typically high in both fat and sodium. According to the National Restaurant Association, 73% of adults are trying to eat healthier in restaurants than they did two years ago, however, they may be losing all the ground they have gained by adding these sauces without considering the content and calories. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One of the hardest health issues to deal with is weight. There are millions of Americans who are overweight and many of these people are considered to be obese. In fact, obesity is a direct cause of hundreds of thousands of deaths each year. Thousands of these deaths are in people who have a body mass index (BMI) of more than 30. If a person has a BMI of more than 40, they can expect to have a much shorter life span than they would have otherwise. When a person suffers from obesity, they are likely to have a number of health issues. They will probably have difficulties with many movements and will usually get very little exercise. Health Risks Related to Obesity When a person is obese, being overweight often becomes the least of their problems. Those who are obese face a number of health risks, including osteoarthritis, gout, gall stones, and sleep disorders. Some of the more serious conditions that can develop as a result of obesity include insulin resistance, diabetes, hypertension, heart attacks, strokes, congestive heart failure, cancer, and other conditions. Insulin Resistance – One of the biggest causes of insulin resistance is obesity. Insulin is necessary for transporting blood sugars into fat and muscle cells. Fat cells are far more resistant to insulin than other cells and when a person is obese, they have so many fat cells that their bodies are not able to use insulin properly. This can lead to diabetes and kidney failure. Diabetes – There are three types of diabetes, Type 1, Type 2, and gestational. When a person is obese, they are at a high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, also referred to as adult onset diabetes. This is more common in obese people who carry the majority of their weight in their mid sections, or are apple-shaped. Hypertension – This is also referred to as high blood pressure and is a common affliction in people who are obese. Studies have shown that this is more common in obese women than in men, and again, is more common in those who are apple-shaped. Heart Attack – Women who have a BMI that is higher than 29 are at risk of having a heart attack. Obesity in males and females is a leading cause of coronary artery disease, putting these people at a much greater risk of having a heart attack than those who have a lower BMI. If a person is obese and has already had a heart attack, the likelihood of a second attack is great. Stroke – A stroke can be caused by hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes, all problems associated with obesity. Because those who are obese often eat foods that are high in fat, the arteries become clogged, and not enough blood gets through to the brain, causing strokes. Congestive Heart Failure – This condition occurs when the heart is weakened and this can be caused by many things, including disease and obesity. A person with congestive heart failure also risks other health problems, including weakened kidneys, congested lungs, edema (swelling in the ankles and feet), and the intestines may not function properly. Cancer – Obesity has been linked with certain types of cancers, including colon cancer in both women and men, rectum and prostate cancer in men, cancer of the uterus, and the gallbladder. It may even be linked to breast cancer. Anyone who is obese needs to be seen by a physician regularly, because the obesity can cause a number of health problems to develop, and where a person has none of the above conditions on one visit to the doctor, they may have signs of one or more on their next visit. This is another reason why it is so important to try to do everything possible to take off the excess weight. Dealing With Obesity Pretty much anyone who is obese has probably tried their fair share of diets, only to find that they did not stay on them very long, or that they did not work in the first place. When a person is obese, their number one priority in life should be getting the excess weight off, in order to ensure their good health and a long life. Often, obesity can be dealt with through diet and exercise, but the diets are usually extremely restricted and those who go on them must want to lose the weight and have the willpower to do it. In many cases, there are people who are so obese that they must be hospitalized in order for their diets to be monitored, to make sure that they are getting enough of the right foods and none of the foods that will not be good for them. For many people who are obese, they are able to lose weight through a healthy diet and exercise program. For many others, it is not always quite so simple. There are many people who are considered to be morbidly obese, and in a lot of cases, bariatric surgery is recommended. There are different types of bariatric surgery, and for all, a portion of the stomach is cut off from the rest, making the patient unable to eat as much as they could previously. This helps improve their chances of losing weight and not having to struggle with obesity any longer. Of course, it is important to eat right and get enough exercise, or this type of surgery will have no result. When a person is dieting to overcome obesity, they are probably on a very restricted diet that is low in fat and calories. But they may also not be getting all of the nutrients their bodies need.
