What is happening in America? So many people walking around with high blood pressure (hypertension) and not getting any better. Obviously, this ailment is not understood except to treat the symptoms rather than the underlying problem. American Heart Association stats indicates just how this condition is not improving:

High blood pressure (hypertension) killed 57,356 people in the United States in 2005.

As you can see this is a serious epidemic in the U.S. and it seems we are not taking a deserving all out attack on this enemy. High blood pressure is a greater danger to the American people than any terrorist attack. This is the time and place where the funding and exploratory research requires focus. Wouldn’t you concur?

It is very clear to see that one contributing cause of the condition is not knowing the origin which is essential to finding its solution.

The UNDERLYING CAUSE

DO YOU HAVE TOXIC BLOOD? HOW DOES THE BLOOD BECOME TOXIC?

When the blood becomes saturated with unfiltered blood then its ability to maintain body systems and organs is compromised. Blood quality forecasts each cell’s capacity to manage successfully its tasks. The blood has the potential to nourish or pollute the entire body. As we age, over-stress, ingest a poor diet, etc. blood elements can back up unless detoxification is utilized or the principal blood cleaners in the physical body are sustained enabling their function.

If the blood remains toxic for too long then an acidic environment is created. The outcome is a deterioration of circulatory vessel walls. This involves a scarring effect with blood components filling in the damged areas. This build-up complicates the process of cleansing. When circulation vessels are clogged then all body organs become deficient thus impeding the life extension process. Its important at this stage that balance is re-established before established damage occurs.

There are different conditions that are involved with causation of toxic build-up. From a Chinese medicine perspective, the body can involve singular or multiple constitutional conditions. The principal six constitutions of the body are:

cold<—————>hot
damp<————->dry
deficient<——–>excess

When the body becomes or specific organ become extreme in one of the constitutional conditions above then toxicity occurs. In order to move the imbalance or over toxicity to a balanced or neutral status, the body or its organ(s) need help to move in the other direction of the continuum.

Additionally, Its very important to discern which constitution is primary so treatment priority can be arrived at before tackling obvious symptoms. Again, the goal of the correction process is to achieve balance or neutral status. That is the mid-point between cold and hot, damp and dry, and deficient and excess. Anchoring the body’s constitutional center, makes possible, peak health where the symptoms fall away, health re-establishes.

Summary: Excess constitution with heat and dampness characteristics stemming from over-ingestion of rich, greasy, spicy, refined, intoxicating foods. Foods: excess red meat, eggs, cheese, fried foods, salt, excess sweet, refined & stale flour and oil products, chemicals, drugs and acoholic drinks.

When the body becomes overwhelmed by the above foods then the blood, organs and body becomes toxic and malfuctioning. The extreme state injures the body where, eventually, due to blockage, deficiency results with conditions of arthritis, tumor, diabetes, etc. The log jam in circulation generates higher body temperature and flow pressure causing the following conditions – high blood pressure, constipation, excess weight, stroke and many more circulation ailments. The remedy is purging and cleansing.with bitter herbs and foods. Bitter cools and reduces dampness in the body. There may be exceptions which require a seasoned Master herbalist’s (traditional chinese herbs) input.

“Sweet makes you bitter while bitter makes you sweeter” Nei jing

REACH THE NEXT LEVEL – HIGHER ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE! INJURED: SPEED UP RECOVERY!

Based on Traditional Chinese herbs and medicine and American nutrition the following foods were selected for their known enhancement of sports performance. Martial artists, monks and sages have perfected the longevity, spirituality and vitalizing practices over the many centuries. I know these strategies work since I have included them in my own work out and practice of martial arts.

SUPER FOODS FOR SUPERIOR ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE

ENERGY & STAMINA FOODS
Whole grains (sprouted wheat – hard red winter wheat, Amaranth, Barley, pearled, Buckwheat (kasha), Bulgar, Oats, whole kernel, Rice, brown, Rice, wild, Rye, whole kernel, Quinoa, Wheat, whole kernel, All Bran with Extra Fiber, Bran Buds, Fiber One, Kashi, Go Lean, Shredded Wheat, Shredded Wheat and Bran, Buckwheat Groats, Oat Bran, Old Fashioned Oatmeal, Steel-Cut Oats), Acai berry, Bananas, Black sesame seeds, Black soybeans, Chestnuts, Citrus peel, Chia seed, chicken, herring, Mulberries, mussel, Raspberries, Strawbeeries, shrimp, lamb, sunflower seed, sweet potato, water cress, winter squash, almonds, Ghee, Nettle leaves, Micro algae, Goat milk, Placenta, Royal jelly, Salmon, Trout, Bee pollen, Doddler seeds, Walnuts, Wheat grass

STRENGTH FOODS
If you want to become strong, eat carbohydrates before your workout and eat plenty of protein afterwards. Normal amounts of insulin help muscles grow, and eating carbohydrates causes your blood sugar to rise, which, in turn, causes your pancreas to release insulin. Taking in large amounts of protein after a workout helps muscles to recover faster from hard exercise, so you can do more hard work and grow larger and stronger muscles (Journal of Physiology, Volume 573, 2006).

Bitter foods/herbs, Raw or lightly cooked Vegetables, sprouts, Vegetables (leafy greens, carrots, radishes, mushrooms), fruits, grains, legumes, fresh flax oil, stevia sweetener, Salmon, Spinach, Almonds, Cranberries, Wheat Germ, Beans, Extra Lean Ground Beef, Eggs, Tomatoes, Oatmeal, Bee Pollen, .

Natural steroid food: Asparagus, Avocado, Bananas, Celery, Raw Oysters, Pine Nuts (the edible seeds of pine trees), Figs, Almonds and nuts in general, Eggs, Basil (Sweet basil), Liver, Salmon & Other Fish, Damiana (or Turnera diffusa), Wild Yam.

CONCENTRATION & FOCUS
fish, fish oil, spirulina, whole grains (Brown rice, Maize, Oats, Buckwheat, Millet, Quinoa, Amaranth, Wheat, Sweet rice, Spelt), legumes and their sprouts (mung bean sprouts, soy bean sprouts, tofu, tempeh, peas, Adzuki Beans, Black Beans, Black-eyed peas, Broad Beans (Fava Beans), Butter Beans, Calico Beans, Cannellini Beans, Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans), Edamame, Great Northern Beans, Italian Beans, Kidney Beans, Lentils, Lima Beans, Mung Beans, Navy Beans, Pinto Beans, Soy Beans, including black soy beans, Split Peas
White Beans), fresh nuts and seeds, dark green vegetables and microalgae. Flax seed, pumpkin seed, chia seed, borage seed, black currant seed and primrose seed oils

EMOTIONAL STRENGTH FOODS
Whole grains (whole wheat, brown rice, oats), Ganoderm, Poria, lettuce, cucumber, barley gruel, oat groat tea, Fruit (apples, mullberries, lemons), dill, basil, rose hips, Ghee (clarified butter), cabbage, fresh wheat germ, wild blue greem algae, apple cider vinegar

FOODS TO AVOID
Sugar, or foods with added sugars, Processed grains, or foods containing them (except as listed on the Grains List e.g. packaged cereals, even whole grain cereals, are usually processed, verify), Refined grains (which don’t say “whole” in front of each grain on the label) or foods containing them, “Wheat” or “wheat flour” without the word “whole” is usually a code word for “white” (includes white rice, “Flour” listed alone is always white flour), Potatoes, Cakes, cookies, muffins, etc. Crackers, unless whole grain, Cereals, unless whole grain and at least 8 grams of fiber per serving, Chips, Ice cream, Jams and Jellies, Maple Syrup, Regular Soda and other sweetened beverages, Juices, Oils except for extra virgin olive oil, nut oils, and canola oil, Mayonnaise, Creamy salad dressings, Butter, Magarine, Dairy products that are not fat-free, including cheese, cream cheese, milk, etc., Fatty meats such as bacon or sausage, Anything with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fats in it.

EVERY YEAR, NEARLY ONE MILLION AMERICANS DIE FROM HEART DISEASE

Some Startling Statistics!!!

One in five individuals has some form of cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United states and has been every year since 1919

One of every 2.5 deaths in 1998 was due to cardiovascular disease.

AND MORE THAN HALF WERE WOMEN !!!

Did you know that women have a 50% chance of dying from heart disease or stroke?

The risk of a woman dying from cardiovascular disease is nearly twice that of all forms of cancer combined. But, you can do something about it.
Out-patient adults diagnosed with heart disease: 23 million (2001)

The medical establishment perceives the heart as a separate organ that requires specialization. But what is forgotten is that all the organs in the body are related to each other. The heart pumps the blood to support the circulatory system. In turn, the blood supports the other organs and itself. The other organs support the heart. All parts of the body are interdependent. The liver filters (one of many functions) the blood from toxins, which aids all the other organs.

ANOTHER EXPLANATION FROM TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

Chinese Medicine has had an answer for more than 1000 years!

According to Traditional Chinese herbs & medicine, the heart, like all organs of the human body, requires blood and energy to maintain itself. Arteries, capillaries and veins support the feeding and cleansing of the heart. When any of these vessels are blocked, then the heart becomes interrupted in its functioning. This can become serious resulting in many HEART & CIRCULATION problems. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) focuses on opening up the targeted channels revitalizing and harmonizing the heart’s function and obstructed circulatory channels.

The liver, spleen, and every circulatory system organ can be involved in an obstructive process that impedes natural blood flow. This results in the body lowering in energy or Qi (Chinese medicine), high blood pressure, with every body function suffering from poor nutrition and de-oxygenation. No amount of vitamins or minerals can overcome the level of toxicity that develops except through gradual elimination of toxins in the blood. If detoxification happens too quickly, then a crisis can occur where nausea, exhaustion, and further setbacks in the cleansing process. If elimination is allowed to proceed on a gradual improving pace then expulsion is optimized. This requires working with the body as opposed to making physiology conform to a standardized strategy.

If the blood remains toxic for too long then an acidic environment is created. The result is a breakdown of vascular walls. This involves a scarring effect with blood components filling in the damged areas. This build-up complicates the process of cleansing. If the circulatory plumbing is not cleared out then all organs suffer speeding up the aging process. Its important at this stage that balance is re-established before established damage occurs.

The excess wears the body down into deficiency resulting in conditions of arthritis, tumor, diabetes, etc. The blockages in vasularity produces heat and pressure resulting in the following conditions – high blood pressure, constipation, excess weight, stroke and circulation ailments. The remedy is purging and cleansing.with bitter herbs and foods. Bitter cools and reduces dampness in the body. There may be exceptions which require a seasoned Master herbalist’s (Traditional Chinese herbs & medicine) input.

What is happening in America? So many people walking around with high blood pressure (hypertension) and not getting any better. Obviously, this ailment is not understood except to treat the symptoms rather than the underlying problem. Below here are some pervasive stats from the American Heart Association that indicates just how this condition is not improving:

High blood pressure (hypertension) killed 57,356 people in the United States in 2005.

About 73.6 million people in the United States age 20 and older have high blood pressure.

One in three adults has high blood pressure.

Of those people with high blood pressure, 78.7 percent were aware of their condition.

Of all people with high blood pressure, 69.1 percent were under current treatment, 45.4 percent had it under control, and 54.6 percent did not have it controlled.

The cause of 90-95 percent of the cases of high blood pressure isn’t known; however, high blood pressure is easily detected and usually controllable.

From 1995 to 2005 the death rate from high blood pressure increased 25.2 percent, and the actual number of deaths rose 56.4 percent.

Non-Hispanic blacks are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure than are non-Hispanic whites.

Within the African-American community, those with the highest rates of hypertension, are more likely to be middle aged or older, less educated, overweight or obese, physically inactive, and to have diabetes.

In 2005 the death rates per 100,000 population from high blood pressure were 15.8 for white males, 52.1 for black males, 15.1 for white females and 40.3 for black females

As you can see this is a serious epidemic in the U.S. and it seems we are not taking a deserving all out attack on this enemy. This is a more extreme threat than any terrorist attack. This is where the money and research needs to be focussed. Wouldn’t you agree?

It is very clear to see that one contributing cause of the condition is not knowing the origin which is essential to finding its solution.

The UNDERLYING CAUSE

DO YOU HAVE TOXIC BLOOD? HOW DOES THE BLOOD BECOME TOXIC?

When the blood becomes saturated with unfiltered blood then its ability to maintain body systems and organs is compromised. Blood quality determines every cell’s capability to carry out its function. The blood has the potential to nourish or pollute the entire body. As we age, over-stress, ingest a poor diet, etc. blood components can build up unless detoxification is employed or the primary blood filters in the body are supported to do their function.

The liver, spleen, and every circulatory system organ can be involved in an obstructive process that impedes natural blood flow. This results in the body lowering in energy or Qi (Traditional Chinese medicine), high blood pressure, with every body function suffering from poor nutrition and de-oxygenation.

If the circulatory plumbing is not cleared out then all organs suffer while the aging process speeds up. Its important at this stage that balance is re-established before established damage occurs.

There are different conditions that are involved with causation of toxic build-up. From a Chinese medicine perspective, the body can involve singular or multiple constitutional conditions. The primary (6) body types are:

cold<—————>hot
damp<————->dry
deficient<——–>excess

When the body becomes or specific organ become extreme in one of the constitutional conditions above then toxicity occurs. In order to move the imbalance or over toxicity to a balanced or neutral status, the body or its organ(s) need help to move in the other direction of the continuum.

Additionally, Its very important to discern which constitution is primary so treatment priority can be arrived at before tackling obvious symptoms. Again, the goal of the correction process is to achieve balance or neutral status. That is the mid-point between cold and hot, damp and dry, and deficient and excess. Establishing the center of these continuums brings about optimal health where the symptoms subside, health anchors.

There may be exceptions which require a seasoned Master herbalist’s (traditional chinese herbs) input.

“Sweet makes you bitter while bitter makes you sweeter” Nei jing

This is a discussion of the primary issues involved with Allergies and the strategies that you have to resolve to completely correct the underlying physical imbalance. Traditional Chinese herbs and medicine and nutrition are spelled out in detail to move quickly from the inflamed state or to compliment other remedies.

Uncomplicated Understanding & Simple Solutions for Allergies

The primary reason for an allergy is due to an excess ingestion of food, contaminated air, water or a deficiency in the body due to lack of mineral, vitamin and physical energy. The deficiency and excess conditions result in toxicity which can spread from one organ to the next, disrupting organ function and homeostasis or general balance.

The human body is always working on maintaining balance and involves every organ and system to maintain that harmony. For instance, if the lungs and digestion are not able to manage seasonal pollens, mold and microbes then:

the nasal passages will excessively drain to clear out the overflowing toxins.

The lungs – bronchi – trachea produce mucus, all to assist the cleansing of excess.

liver function may become overtaxed and over-heated thus drying out mucus making it difficult to clear mucus obstruction and decreasing immune function

There are many examples of allergic reaction that are an extension of an excess/deficient constitution type. The purpose of this lens is to comprensively, present respiratory allergy and list more bonafide solutions that are finally corrective. Most allergic conditions take years to arrive. Cutting out so called, non-perfoming organs is irreversible, do not resolve the underlying cause and, many times, prevents the ability of the body to heal itself. Below, you will discover Traditional Chinese herbs and nutrition strategies for improving and alleviating allergic interence with the quality of your life.

ALLERGY NUTRITION

Foods to Increase and Avoid in Your Diet

The foods below are recommended because they alleviate excess mucus production and obstruction in the channels (energy and circulation). Due to this clogging function, disruption occurs in the detoxing organs as wella s the channels for eliminating the excess in food and toxins. Even though the foods below do not contribute allergic reaction, too much of the foods can result in allergy conditions.

Foods: bee pollen, honey, citrus seed, protein foods (small amount, often), onions, sprouted wheat, sprouted legumes, sprouted seeds, micro-algae, chlorophyll-rich foods, cereal grasses, liver support foods/herbs,

Drinks: Almond milk, Herb teas (no lemon or orange), Pure fruit juices without sugar or additives (dilute 50:50 with water), Roasted grain beverages may be used as coffee substitutes, Seltzer (salt free), Soy milk without corn oil, Spring water in glass bottles

Cereals: Oatmeal, Oat bran, Cream of rye, Puffed rice and millet, Diluted apple juice, apple slices, and nuts go well on cereal. Use soymilk that has no corn oil added or almond milk.

Grains and flour: Bean flour, Buckwheat flour, 100% buckwheat soba noodles, Cooked whole gains, such as oats, millet, barley, buckwheat groats (kasha), rice macaroni, spelt (flour and pasta), brown rice, amaranth, quinoa, rice, or millet breads (that contain no dairy, eggs, sugar, or wheat), Potato flour, 100% rice cakes, Rice crackers, Rice flour, 100% rye or spelt bread with no wheat, Rye crackers, Soy flour

Legumes: Black beans, Chickpeas, Kidney beans, Lentils, Navy beans, Peas, Soybeans, String beans, Tofu, Dried beans should be soaked overnight. Pour off the water and rinse before cooking. Canned beans often contain added sugar or other potential allergens. Some cooked beans packaged in glass jars, and sold at health food stores, contain no sugar.

Nuts and seeds: Nuts and seeds, either raw or roasted, without salt or sugar, Nut butters from health food stores or from fresh ground nuts (such as almond butter, cashew butter, walnut butter, sesame butter, and sesame tahini)

Oils: Use cold-pressed or expeller-pressed oils (available from health food stores), as they are safer for the heart and blood vessels. Do not use corn oil or “vegetable oil” from an unspecified source, as this is usually corn oil. Flaxseed (edible linseed) oil, Olive oil, Peanut oil, Safflower oil, Sesame oil, Soy oil, Sunflower oil

Protein: Canned tuna, salmon, and other canned fish, Fresh fish, Lamb, Poultry and fowl

Vegetables: All vegetables except corn are generally acceptable. Tomatoes sometimes cause problems and should be avoided by susceptible individuals.

AVOID THE FOLLOWING FOOD:

Peanuts are a common food allergen and should be avoided, along with peanut butter

Canola oil (rapeseed)

Lack of dietary changes will yield allergic conditions

Excess consumption of food, This variable is determined by the individual’s current detox function.

Glucan sensitive foods based on wheat (not every has this issue)

Deadly Nightshade plants (tomatoes, egg plant, potatoes) minority suffer from this sensitivity.

Sugars

Excitotoxins (most sugar replacements except stevia, Agave nectar, etc.)

Incomplete foods or Non-whole foods

Breads made from flour as opposed to complete whole grain bread

As an individual becomes more toxic or builds up excess obstructive components in the body then the allergic conditions tend to increase unless you reverse the toxic pattern. You have to give your body a break until it finds its equilibrium.

What is constipation?

There are 4 basic types of constipation described are:

infrequent stools

hard stools

difficulty passing stools (straining)

sense of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement.

The reason behind each of these “types” of constipation is different, and the strategy for each needs to be customized. Constipation can be followed by diarrhea. This pattern has been associated with the more serious condition of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). And the most serious case of constipation is complete impaction, where stool hardens in the rectum and no passage of stool results.

As we age, our bowel movement reduce. While most people have a bowel movement once a day, slightly less than 50% of the adult population seem to enjoy the regular pattern. The other half are irregular and do not have bowel movements every day.

Quick Constipation Assessment

Healthy bowell movement: regular daily bowel movement.

Constipation is considered a real problem when there are fewer than three bowel movements per week.

When constipation is serious, people will experience less than one bowel movement per week.

Medical experts hold the position that there is no medical reason to have a bowel movement every day. Additionally, they have determined not having a bowel movement for 2-3 days does not cause discomfort, only mental concern for some people. Medical researchers and doctors support there is no evidence that “toxins” accumulate when bowel movements are infrequent or that constipation leads to cancer. This statement is contrary to natural and traditional medicine practitioners.

It is important to discern acute (recent onset) constipation from chronic (long duration) constipation. You need to approach your health practitioner with your constipation concerns regarding the following:

Acute constipation needs immediate assessment because a serious medical illness may be the underlying cause (e.g., tumors of the colon).

Additionally, constipation needs to be assessed if it occurs with serious symptoms such as rectal bleeding, abdominal pain and cramps, nausea and vomiting, and involuntary weight loss.

In comparison, the assessment of chronic constipation may not need attention, especially, if simple aid brings relief.

OK! THE NATURAL MEDICINE EXPLANATION

WHAT IS THE UNDERLYING CAUSE OF CONSTIPATION & WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO CORRECT THE IMBALANCE?

While the medical model describes and defines the condition of constipation, it is not clear the underlying causation. To say there is an inflammation or infection behind constipation may fall short for our purposes. Though there may be inflammation, its important to understand the precondItion and unseen phenomena creating this toxic condition.

The anology of weather and environment will serve us to understand what is happening with constipation. When its hot and dry, we have dessert conditions. What happens is that everything dries up. When the environment is cold and damp then the condtions are boggy-everything is moist. When these conditions occur in the elimination tracts, then our fecal matter is transformed. If our descending colon and rectum are too hot then its dries our elimination. The result is that it becomes dry and hardened. It also slows down due to excess friction and lack of lubricating mucous.

FOOD THERAPY FOR CONSTIPATION

To counter this drying process, eat cooling foods such as: salads, green beans, spinach, etc. and cooling fruit like melons, pineapple, etc.

COOLING HERBS FOR CONSTIPATION

Additionally cooling herbs will quickly cool and soften stools such as rhubarb rt. and cascara sagrada. Though these herbs, by themselves, are not balanced, when you combine them with toxic countering herbs, you will have an excellent formula for your descending colon. If your stomach is weak and/or lacking energy then cold herbs alone have to be counter-balanced with qi increasing or energizing herbs. This is where a herbalist specialized in Traditional Chinese Herbs will be of optimal benefit to your health.

WHY AREN’T ALL FORMULATIONS WORKING?

Yes all these herbs work and I have seen many of them included in Constipation or Colon Cleansing products. But with almost 50% of the people from 50 years or older their digestion tracts are weak and bloated due to the toxic American diet. If they were to take these cooling herbs, they would experience pain or think they were in an inflamed state but it is quite the opposite. Their colon is is cold and therefore feels pain. I have seen 100s of people who come asking can you do something for my inflamed colon.

The latest natural medicine propaganda is you need these cooling herbs to reduce the inflamed toxic heat state. I promise you it is not the case. It is essential that middle and senior agers need warming, energizing herbs and food for the fatigued stomach and colon areas while providing cooling in the descending colon and rectum. In essence, both strategies need to be employed, at least, for a constipation formula to work for the prior mentioned populations. There are more items to add but this is enough to deliver the essential concepts around constipation.

Complications in the use of herbal remedies has occurred when manufacturers unkowledgeable in the practice of herbalism but more focussed on the profit aspect have provided product too high in concentration. Hopefully, more master herbalists trained in Chinese, Ayurvedic, Tibetan, North and South American herbology can share the more subtle rather than gross practice of herbalism. Appreciatively, more allopathic physicians and institutions are embracing the wonders of natural herbal medicine in their practices.
